Oil accidents– ecological burden of the planet Earth
Oil ((raw), black gold) is made by bits of prehistoric plants and animals, which settled on the bottom of seas and lakes millions years ago.
The use of oil is practically necessary for any mass production, transport and agricultural production. We can hardly think of the modern agriculture and food production without made of oil.
- 95% of all food is grown and produced in dependence on oil
- 95% of all transport ...
- 95% of all production is dependent on oil
- for each 1 calorie in food is needed 10 calories in oil
- for the production of one ordinary PC is consumed as much oil as ten times the weight of the PC
Between years 1970 and 1985 happened 186 severe accidents in which millions of sea-life died
from poisoning.
There was only one oil tanker in 1950, whether 6 035 oil tankers by the date 1.1. 1992, in
the world.
Approximately 10 millions tunes of oil is released into the seas. 1 tune of oil makes oil
slick polluting 2 – 12km2 of the surface of the sea/ocean.
In 1975 thin oil slick covered nearly 1/5 of oceans and seas surface. This slick reduces sea
water evaporates and therefore badly effects temperature and water regulation between the earth
and ocean. Above that is food to most of the sea habitants, and the plants part is significant
producer of oxygen (about 30% of world oxygen)
The oil contains carcinogen substances, which are also found in bodies of fish and of shelves.
Its consummation can lead to ill health.
