Karel Curda, a member of Operation OUT DISTANCE. The man who failed.... As a result of his betrayal seven young parachutists – Adolf Opálka, Josef Bublík, Jan Kubiš, Jaroslav Švarc, Jan Hrubý, Josef Valcík and Josef Gabcík died in the crypt of the Church at Resslova Street. He loyally assisted Nazis in their search for his fellow comrades from training and making contact with them – this was a liability incurred as a result of preparing Czechoslovaks as a group. Everybody knew everybody else and unfortunately each one’s mission, also. Czechoslovak intelligence officers learnt a partial lesson, as a result. Curda was arrested, sentenced to death and executed on 17.5.1945.
